As part of the inter-cultural research diploma program, Ms. Ananya Drong, the Executive Director of Ku.Sal Marginalized Women Organization, participated in the prestigious Inter-cultural Research events organized by the International Indigenous Women’s Forum (FIMI) in Arusha, Tanzania, from August 12 to August 14, 2024. This gathering brought together leaders, researchers, and advocates from Indigenous communities worldwide to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on advancing Indigenous rights and cultural preservation.
Representing the Indigenous women of Bangladesh, Ms. Ananya took the opportunity to highlight the unique challenges and experiences of her community, focusing on issues related to women’s rights, gender-based violence, and cultural preservation. During the event, she presented her research, offering insights into the struggles and resilience of Indigenous women in Bangladesh, while also advocating for policies that protect their rights and promote their empowerment. Her participation not only showcased the work being done by Ku.Sal Marginalized Women Organization but also strengthened her commitment to advocating for Indigenous rights on a global platform.
